Summer is in session…finally. Sunny skies and warmer temps have finally arrived in Seattle!
And you know what that means? Correct. Cold noodles for lunch!
Hiyashi Chuka have filled many a bento box lunch at our house and I’ve even featured it for a Back-to-School bento along with recipe.
Yes, hiyashi chuka is perfect for school lunches. It’s delicious at room temperature and can be customized for individual appetites!
Saba Man has converted to “fish only” so there’s no more ham or chicken covering his noodles. Instead he has kamaboko fishcake, egg omelet and tofu for protein.
He also has crunchy seaweed and a dab of pickled ginger.
The cucumbers are a de rigueur but again the beauty of a cold noodle dish is that you can top it with almost anything you want! Which again makes it ideal for school lunches, especially multiple school lunches.
